WISCONSIN WOMEN OF COLOR NETWORK, INC.
2019 WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION
Madison, WI. The Wisconsin Women of Color Network, Inc. (WWOCN) will celebrate Women’s History Month on Saturday, March 23, 2019, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, 525 West Johnson Street, Madison, WI. The theme of the conference is: Celebrating Women of Achievement. A Lunch Buffet will be served at 12:00 Noon.
The event will include the recognition of women who will receive the 2019 WWOCN Woman of Achievement Award. This award is given each year to deserving racial ethnic minority women who have been nominated by groups or individuals from their respective communities. The awardees have demonstrated commitment and service toward the improvement of the quality of life for all women, shown a high degree of professionalism in their own areas of expertise, and done well in their own personal growth and development. They are role models and are held in high esteem by their own peers.
The 2019 WWOCN honorees and their respective areas of achievement are:
Angelina Hicks. EdD, African American – Education
Janet Saiz, American Indian – Community Service, Volunteer
Sharyl J. Kato, Asian American – Public Health, Education, Arts
Themis Flores, Latina - Public Health
Focusing on the conference theme, the awardees will speak on their own life experiences to serve as an inspiration to all conference participants.
A special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to honor Milele Chikasa Anana. Since the incipience of WWOCN in 1983, she has supported the mission and goals of our organization and in many ways has given a lifetime of service to empower women and youths of color.
The public is invited but a reservation to attend is required. Registration Fee: $35.00 for adults and $15.00 for children 8-12 years old. The deadline for a reservation is: Monday, March 18, 2019. To make a reservation, please contact:
